OHAUS has acquired the Genie™ brand, a long established manufacturer of vortex mixers, shakers, and laboratory equipment used by scientists worldwide for more than 50 years. The acquisition brings the well-known Vortex Genie™ product line into the OHAUS portfolio. By adding Genie™ products to its range, OHAUS strengthens its ability to provide customers with a broader selection of trusted laboratory instruments.
The Vortex-Genie™ range offers five models designed to meet a variety of lab mixing requirements. The Vortex-Genie™ 2 provides analogue speed control from 600–3200rpm with a 4mm orbit and touch or hands-free operation, while the Vortex-Genie™ 2T adds a 1–60sec timer. For labs requiring greater control and visibility, the Digital Vortex-Genie™ 2 and ABI Digital Vortex-Genie™ feature digital speed adjustment from 500–3000rpm, a 1–99sec timer, 3.5mm orbital motion, and a red LED display. Completing the range, the Vortex-Genie™ Pulse offers digital control, a 1–99min timer, 3mm orbit, and touch or hands-free operation, making it suitable for applications requiring timed pulse mixing.
For labs requiring tube rotation and sample agitation, the Genie™ range also includes three dedicated rotator models. The Roto-Rock Genie™ combines rotating and rocking motions with a programmable auto-switch function, offering rotating speeds from 1–35rpm, rocking speeds from 1–70rpm, and an adjustable tilt angle of 0–25°. The Rotator Genie™ provides continuous rotation from 5–35rpm with a 2.25kg capacity for routine mixing applications. Completing the range, the Roto-Shake Genie™ RT22 delivers rotating, rocking, and shaking motion when used with compatible accessories, operating at rotating speeds of 5–35rpm and rocking speeds of 10–70rpm with a 10° tilt angle and 4.5kg capacity.
The Genie™ portfolio also includes two incubator systems designed for applications requiring controlled temperature and sample agitation. The Enviro-Genie™ combines incubation with rotating, rocking, and magnetic stirring functions, offering a temperature range of 4°C to 75°C, rotating speeds from 1–35rpm, rocking speeds from 2–70rpm, and stirring speeds up to 1000rpm. The Incubator Genie™ provides rotating and rocking motion within a temperature range of 28°C to 75°C, with rotating speeds from 3–35rpm and rocking speeds from 6–70rpm. Together, these systems provide flexible options for labs requiring temperature controlled mixing and incubation workflows.
