The Autwomatic Plus 1+2 EDI Water Purification System is designed to deliver both Type I Ultrapure Water and Type II Pure Water directly from mains water. Available in production capacities of 3, 5, 10, 20 and 40 litres per hour, the system combines advanced purification technologies to provide reliable, high quality laboratory water for a broad range of analytical and molecular biology applications. Using a multi-stage purification process that includes pre-treatment, reverse osmosis, electrodeionization (EDI), ultraviolet photo-oxidation and final filtration, the system consistently produces water that meets ASTM D1193 standards for laboratory use.

The integrated pre-treatment stage protects the reverse osmosis membrane and enhances overall system performance. A combination of depth filtration, silver-impregnated activated carbon and a polyphosphate anti-scale agent removes particles smaller than one micron while reducing chlorine, organic compounds and mineral scale build-up. This preparation stage supports the high-performance reverse osmosis system, which removes up to 99.95% of organic contaminants and up to 98% of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). An automatic membrane flushing function further improves efficiency and helps extend operational lifespan.

At the core of the system is advanced Electrodeionization (EDI) technology, which continuously regenerates purification resins through an electrochemical process. This enables the production of Type II Pure Water with a resistivity of 10–15MΩ-cm while maintaining stable performance even when feed water quality fluctuates. Activated carbon spheres integrated into the cathode design minimise calcification, supporting long-term reliability. To further enhance purity, the system incorporates ultraviolet photo-oxidation and a 0.22µm final in-line filter to reduce microbial contamination and remove microorganisms, achieving microbiological levels below 0.01cfu/ml.

Purified Type II Water is stored in sealed 10, 30 or 50-litre pressurised tanks that minimise air exposure and reduce the risk of contamination while helping optimise consumable usage. For applications requiring the highest purity levels, Type II Water is processed through an additional ultrapurification module and photo-oxidation stage to produce Type I Ultrapure Water with a resistivity of 18.2MΩ-cm. The system’s Ultrapure Water Refinement and Ultrafiltration Modules, available in the GF version, remove dissolved organics, trace ions, bacteria, pyrogens and nucleases, making the water suitable for demanding molecular biology workflows.

The Autwomatic Plus 1+2 EDI is well suited to applications including HPLC, ICP, Atomic Absorption, Ion Chromatography, GC-MS and TOC analysis, as well as PCR, DNA sequencing, electrophoresis, Western Blotting and monoclonal antibody production using the GF configuration. Type II Water output also supports routine laboratory procedures such as reagent and buffer preparation, culture media preparation, spectrophotometry, RIA/ELISA and AA-Flame analysis. By combining multiple purification technologies into one compact system, the Autwomatic Plus 1+2 EDI offers laboratories a flexible and efficient solution for producing both ultrapure and pure laboratory water from a single source.
